Introduce yourself! Tell us why you joined, why you love endorphins, your relationship with endorphins, your favorite ways of stimulating their release, or anything else you want to say about them.

I'll start:
Endorphins are definitely my favorite neurotransmitters (followed by serotonin). Some of my favorite ways to stimulate endorphin release: exercise, pain, chocolate, chili peppers, running, chiropractic, massage, tattoos...probably more.

My name is arielle. And I...love endorphins ::waits for everyone to say "hi arielle"::

I like them 'cause they make me feel gooood. High as a kite, but without the icky side effects or problems that come with drugs.

Favorite forms of releasing them: piercing, tattoos, paddles, canes, psychological mind fucks, floggings, sex

Hi Arielle. Ha ha. My name is Sandy and I am an endorphinaholic.

Can you say more about "psychological mind fucks" Arielle? How do they instigate endorphin release?

Think about a rollercoaster. Why does a rollercoaster make you high when, really, you are just sitting in a seat the whole time?

Because you are scared. It's the rush of the fear that gives you the high.

With psychological mind fucks, it's the same thing. I am thinking more specifically of doing scenes that involve some sort of resistance play, age play, anything that scare the shit out of me and potentially have me in tears. These things get me high. Having a knife at your throat...another good example.

And for me, submission also does it, when I go into a DEEP sub space

Hi, Arielle! Please do elaborate more on the psychological mind-fuck endorphin connection. As a (mad) prof, I'm intrigued by this connection from research and application points of view ;-)

I joined because I'm looking for chemical free ways to release endorphins. I've got screwy brain chemistry, so I don't trust any pills, needles, etc.

Sex, biting, hair pulling, yoga, snuggling, mediations, dancing, flirting, certain music, massage, being outside when it's chilly and windy, spinning madly in a cricle, and swinging are some of my favorite ways to get endorphins going.

    hey folks,

    i'm robin.

i like branding, sex, fistfucking, sadism, voyeurism, hiking, backpacking, exercise, long walks, cutting, flogging, spicy food, biting, wrestling, and i am currenly exploring acupunture, herbs and chemicals.

and there's always resistance play, i've only recently realized how much endorphins can be released in choking and slapping someone while trying to hold them down.

    -robin

outside of all this stuff, i just like grinning. i find if i can maintain a crazy goofy grin for a while i can practically float on the brain chemicals. of course, it helps to bounce a bit too. :)

Hi everybody! I am Justin, and I, like all of you here, have many ways of inducing that lovely little chemical reaction in my brain.
The most prominent lately would be massage, piercing, pain play in general, both recieving and giving, fighting and training in martial arts, riding my bike, exercise, chocolate, sex, yoga, practicing my "inner smile" (I know that sounds dirty, but it isn't), delirius laughter, that feeling I get when I have made a *really* offensive joke in an inappropriate situation and the people around me either didn't hear it, or didn't understand it, so I just barely get away with it...I get totally high from that one all the time, probably that bit of fear and then sudden relief. Fun fun fun!
Well, that is enough I think...

i join cause sandy invited me!
I'm an endorphin junky. The biggest highs I've ver gotten was from mountaineering and rock climbing. I also get big rushs from dancing, from BDSM, wrestling, walking for hours, sex, engaging debate, going to amusement parks, trying new foods in new countries, playing with gross bugs and going to countires with civil wars.

I like physically created endorphin rushes but the best ones are the emotional ones when there is a combination of the physical and the mental which is what you get after hiking and climbing in the mountain for a week or so or doing a really intense scene with your submissive.

My name is DeeDee and I'm an endorphin-o-holic!

I've done almost anything I could to get that endorphin rush, you name it: Exercise, sex, dance, mountaineering, chocolate, singing, yelling, rollercoasters and even, I am ashamed to say, uninhibited laughter and frolic.

For a while I fought the cravings with regular abuse of drugs and alcohol, but my body could sustain it no longer and I returned to this, the mother of all addictions. I am a real endorphin-o-holic and had a big fix just the other night, at the Spike and Mike Sick and Twisted festival of animation. I plan on getting my next fix by walking briskly to work.

It may be an addiction, but it's also a choice and I come to you with my head held high, to declare proudly: YES I LOVE ENDORPHINS!

Sweltering Bikram yoga, motorcycling, cacophonously playing any musical instrument, listening to Claude Debussy, laughing my ass off.

Token "diverse" point of view: being smiled at by my 7-week-old daughter. What a rush...!

hi, i also heart endorphins. i like intense movies or plays, rock shows/concerts, drag king shows, watching other people dance, roller coasters/the pirateship, flying in a small plane (barrel rolls, please!), sex, cloves, looking at really big trees, singing and pain, oh, also reading smutty novels. these are all lovely ways to get a nice endorphin high. i also enjoy 'contact highs' from watching other peoples' bd/sm scenes.

i have had a great time throughout my life chasing endorphins and mostly accidentally discovering them. yay.

well boys and girls and all the rest... once upon a time, yours truly went to a firewalk and said "no way i'm i getting on that bed of hot coals. what do I look like, a freaky masochist?" "uh yeah." replied the firemaster. "oh." said I. "well, maybe i am that, but you ain't getting me to walk on no bed of hot coals no way no how." the firemaster then replied "ok you little freaky masochist. howz about you just help me tend the fire?" i replied, "now that i can do" the fire roared and blazed and danced and was hot and yummy. eventually it died down to a quiet bed of 1200 degree glowing coals. so beautiful it was that i couldn't stop staring. mezmorized i took my shoes and socks off and perhaps let out a howl. (it was so long ago, i don't actually remember.) my energy raised to match the fire as it pulled me closer and closer until lo and behold I was walking across the sombitch. "HOLY FUCK!" i exclaimed when i reached the other side. "I just walked on fire!" the fire master and the bed of coals turned to each other and winked. I've been doing it ever since. only got burnt a couple of times. the last time i got burned, i used the energy and the heat to heal my foot which had been having a lot of problems. it worked.

            sweet dreams pumpkins!

Oh. My. God. Whoa. Birth without drugs would be painful! I wouldn't expect it to be painful in an enjoyable way. Never thought much about that. Hmmm...I suppose that would be quite a huge endorphin fest.

I'm not saying she enjoyed it - just that it's about as good an endorphin inducer as you're likely to get. The baby came out so fast there was no time for an epidural.

Makes me think endorphins evolved, in part, to help women hold it together enough to deal with the baby after it comes out.

Smaller doses are probably more palatable.

          yo endo ho's!

i have recently joined this most excellent tribe (as per invitation by stormaldo chata who is on tribe more than anyone besides mad prof) and do also share the same passion and appreciation for our bodies' god (aka "creator", "divine", "universal", etc.)-given endorphins.

i share many of the same faves of releasing -
chocolate: 85% Galler Extreme bar is the bombadillio
food: wasabi hits, chili pepper heat
BDSM: exchanging power and pain - mostly receiving pain is what does it for me but I have also gotten high from giving pain. I really get off on getting "schooled" by a mistress, ma'am, or mommie figure and general role playing
Sex: having a nice big O is always a wholesome endorphin release, but it's more that just endorphins, isn't it - what is an orgasm anyway? i don't know but i sure do like em. I also get a rush from making my woman cum - sometimes this is more powerful than having one of my own
General Exercise: working the chest muscles, sprinting
Soccer: needs a category of its own
Bikram: it's like nothing i've ever experienced before
Surfing: getting up is a huge rush
Biggest high in less than 2 seconds: Bungee Jumping in New Zealand and that fucking ride at Marine World - most freaked i've been in years
          Other: Firewalking

I gave birth to three children and the hightened awareness and endorphins released were incredible. My last birth I could actually see in my mind where everyone in the household was. But let's get back to endorphins... for those of you who have never gave birth, fisting is the closest that I have come to the euphoria of birth.

Also I wondered if any of you have used damiana or absinth? Do they effect endorphins for the euphoric effect?
        • Re: Introductions thread

          Fri, January 13, 2006 - 5:43 PM
wow, thats probably why I never wanted to birth children..
          no thanks...
but I have tried damiana with absinth...now the absinth that is commonly marketed now is not like the absinth that was marketed 75 or 100 years ago..the name is its mystique now...
I know most herbs, like damiana have no effect on me...but neither do alot of medicinals..

    Hi!
Hey, are you serious about chili peppers helping to feel a release of endorphins?
We have the same fave neurotransmitters. Endorphins and serotonin and oh, I will add in Norepinephrine. To be honest it was the most severe pain ever and being in emerg that I was introduced to a synthetic endorphin release - via Morphine, via IV. When pain is so horrific you want to say 'give me a shot or a gun', the Morphine is a massive relief. I had never had it before. Interestingly I was depressed at the time and for at least several hours, I didn't have the depression. I felt better. The doctor said it was absolutely from the shot of Morphine. It altered the depressive experience so much. I couldn't believe it. I teased the doctor and said 'believe me, this works a heck of a lot better than anti depressants'. He laughed. So I have tried to work super hard to stimulate the endorphins the natural way. Damn, I wish I got that effect from exercise, etc. It just doesn't hit like I wish it would. But I keep trying! I'm new to Tribe and I am in Vancouver. I am really enjoying the different communities here. Peace, Christine.

Mmmm, endorphins.... how do I like mine? Well most recently I began ballet lessons (no I didn't get them when I was a little girl.) Talk about a flood of endorphins as you try to convince your body that this is a natural way to move, that plus watching every part of your leg tighten, tone, and elongate... so hot! Other forms? Rock climbing, sky diving (HUGE rush), rapid shooting (swimming), yoga (Bikram's was especially amazing), any type of dance, sex, Indian food, massage (giving or receiving), Ultimate Frisbee, high heels, corsets, good food, sushi, hooping, kissing (isn't it amazing how a good kiss can blow your mind and make you tingle), music that makes me want to dance or feel sexy, pilates, meditation ... and one day a tattoo (anyone recommend a designer or artist to help out?). I know there is more, but that's a good starting list, right?!

I'm Chrissie and I joined 'cause I love endorphins :-) I guess I just like how they can make you feel energised, refreshed, invigorated and relaxed at the same time... The best ways to get them going: eating spicy food; being scared, then relieved, for example going on a rollecoaster, performing, public speaking; exercising, namely running.

I guess speaking in front of a crowd gets me the most. I get this weird feeling.

I joined this tribe to learn more on gettin my endorphins to kick in
