Anybody know of any documented research into movement induced ecstasis. Am wondering if there are any specific movements or ways of moving that are known to release endorphins. I have discovered bellydance over the last couple of years which has become like a spiritual personal practice and am curious about the effect of all this shimmying and accompanying vibrations throughout the body on a chemical level. The ancient practice of Shaking i find really amazing too, and also any serpentine like movements that engage the spine so if anyone has any interesting links, that may appease my curiousity. My experiences with yoga have given me some intuitive insights and as im interested in dance as therapy and as a sacred art, i would love some supportive western evidence if there is any for my ecstatic crusade.
